The Build It Back program helped 12,500 impacted families recover from Hurricane Sandy by providing resources to repair, rebuild, and elevate their homes, or to relocate. Scott Lauer assisted in the creation and development of the 75-home modular demonstration project. Goals of the program were to:
help eligible families return to resilient, durable homes.
create an affordable demolition-to-reconstruction program model.
rebuild the community using resilient and sustainable construction principles.
reduce home costs by 25%.
In addition Lauer developed and managed green-infrastructure projects in Queens, NY to increase neighborhood storm-resilience.
