Project Architect with Nicholas Hare Architects

This cost-effective, lightweight structure was designed to create open laboratories with natural light and views. The building, located in a historic district, was designed to respect the intent of the district guidelines in a contemporary manner. Careful planning was required to meet structural, services and logistics requirements. The lightweight building is supported by a steel grid bearing on the brick exterior wall. Construction was staged to avoid any shutdowns to research work in other building laboratories.
